BIOGRAPHY

Ongoing learning, care and respect.

“In 2011, I completed my studies in the Department of Speech and Language Therapy at the School of Health and Welfare Professions of the Technological Educational Institute of Epirus. In September 2009, I joined the Erasmus programme at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, Essex, where I attended lectures and training in the field of speech and language therapy. Since then, I have continued to practise speech and language therapy while pursuing ongoing professional development, with care and respect for the needs of the children and families I have supported over the years.”

Scientific Director of the centre. Individual speech and language therapy sessions for children with developmental disorders and for adults. Organisation of therapeutic programmes and oversight of the centre’s therapy spaces. Therapy groups and parent training groups. Supervisor of speech and language therapy students undertaking clinical placements.

2013 – present

Individual speech and language therapy sessions and an outreach programme for adults

Individual speech and language therapy sessions and an outreach programme for adults with neurodegenerative conditions (dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and mild cognitive impairment), as well as following strokes.

2014–2020

Mathiteia – Metagnosi

Individual speech and language therapy sessions for children and adults. Coordinator of therapeutic programmes from 2017. Children’s groups. Participation in multidisciplinary teams. Application of the TEACCH method and alternative communication systems such as PECS and MAKATON.

Foundation for Social Work – Chatzipaterio Centre for the Rehabilitation and Support of Children

Individual speech and language therapy sessions for children with cerebral palsy and syndromes. Accompanying children on excursions. Feeding support for children, with supervision on matters of paediatric dysphagia. Application of the TEACCH method and alternative communication systems such as PECS and MAKATON. Participation in the organisation’s multidisciplinary teams alongside neurologists, child psychiatrists and paediatric physiotherapists.

2013–2017

School-based individual support

Support and organisation for children with pervasive developmental disorders in private and public nurseries and kindergartens. Application of the MAKATON method in the school setting.

2011–2012

Volunteer work as an assistant in the educational programme. Creation of educational materials. Supervision of children with cerebral palsy in the school environment and support in following the classroom’s daily programme.
